CPT Brett Kirk Is serving as the Battalion Training Officer and Assistant S3 of the 3rd Battalion 138th Infantry Regiment. He has served for over 13 years, first enlisted on 24 June 2012 as a medic. He later attended Officer Candidate School and commission as an Infantry Officer on 11 September 2015. He has held multiple positions with the Missouri National Guard Association (MONGA) to include: 110th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Officer Representative, Resolutions Committee Chair, and the Army Awards Committee Chair. He is serving as the Area IV Army Company Grade Officer Representative for the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS). Brett has earned a Master of Healthcare Administration from William Woods University and a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Disaster Management from Northwest Missouri State University. He is happily married to his Wife, Brianna, and they have a son, Renley.

Brett continues to serve in that National Guard because it gives him the ability to be a leader and mentor. His favorite assignment was overseeing a Gold Officer Leadership Development Program and helping recruit and train the next generation of Officers. He has taken that experience with him through Command and every position afterwards and has enjoyed developing those around him. He joined MONGA after hearing about the benefits they have helped Guardsmen receive and wanted to find a way to expand upon it. Brett’s favorite part about being active with MONGA is sponsoring new Guardsmen to join and seeing them realize everything the Association does for them. “There is nothing better than watching them realize that most of the benefits they receive has been fought for and now they want to join in on that fight as well.” He also expressed he enjoyed all the different people he has been able to work with. “I have met and spoken with Congressmen and Adjutant Generals from multiple States. I even talked with the Chief of the National Guard Bureau in Washington D.C.” Brett expressed that there is a lot to get involved with from awards, legislative work, event planning, and so much more. Just find what motivates you and bring that to the Association.
